Jordan SmithJordan Smith

Jordan moved to North Central Florida, from her hometown, Kenova, West Virginia.  She says she's definitely a small-town girl at heart and understands how important local issues can be in a close-knit community, like the one she now covers as a reporter for TV 20.  That's why she's looking forward to meeting new people in the area and hearing their stories.

She says even though she misses home, it's been fun to make the switch from The Mountain State to The Sunshine State.

Before leaving West Virginia, Jordan worked as a one-man-band reporter at the NBC affiliate in Huntington, WSAZ News Channel 3.   She says her favorite part about working for WSAZ, and what she thinks is the most important part of her job at any station, is giving people in the community a voice.  She loves being a storyteller and hearing what people have to say.

Jordan received her Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Marshall University in 2007.  (Ever seen the movie "We Are Marshall"?  Yep, that's her alma mater.)

In 2008, Jordan earned her Master's degree in Journalism from Columbia University.  She says spending a year in New York City was a blast, but she couldn't wait to get back down south.

While at both Columbia and Marshall, Jordan worked for the universities' television stations as a reporter, photojournalist, anchor and producer.

When she's not chasing news , she enjoys dancing (ballet, tap and jazz), traveling, and most of all, going on walks with her dog Hollis.
