Josh Rosenthal

JOSH ROSENTHAL

Josh was born and raised in Rockville, MD but says sunny North Central Florida already feels like home. A recent graduate of the University of Maryland School of Journalism, he’s thrilled to have made TV20 his first “real journalism job.”

While attending Maryland, Josh was on University television and radio shows, and he covered everything from elections to baseball games. He was also the recipient of a 2007 Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Award for “Pumped Up,” a two-part radio report on steroid use at the University of Maryland.

Josh also interned at WTEM–SportsTalk 980, a Washington, D.C. sports radio station. That’s the internship that gave Josh the chance to cover most of the Washington Wizards’ 2006-2007 regular season and playoffs. He’d go into the locker rooms before and after games, interview players, and edit the best sound bites for the next day’s broadcasts. Trust me, you’ve never seen someone care so much about a 15 second sound bite in your life.

When Josh wasn’t doing journalism-related stuff, he was either working at Camp Airy, a summer camp where he spent over a decade as a camper and counselor, or he was working at the Elias Wilf Corporation, a flooring distributor that was always willing to let Josh work up a sweat in its warehouse.

Living down South for the first time in his life, Josh can’t believe how nice everyone is down here, and he feels like he made the right choice in moving to Gainesville. He hopes his work as a reporter will have a positive impact on his new community.
